On March 5, 2021, bipartisan members of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Senators Tillis (R-NC), Hirono (D-HI), Cotton (R-AR) and Coons (D-DE), sent a letter to the USPTO's Commissioner for Patents regarding the state of patent eligibility jurisprudence in the United States,” writing that “since the Supreme Court's landmark decisions in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank International and Mayo Collaborative Services v. Prometheus Laboratories, Inc., there has been a lack of consistency and clarity in our nation's patent eligibility laws.”
